PROTEACEAE: The family mainly grows in the southern hemisphere. Africa, Australia, South America, New Zealand, Israel, France, and Canery Island.

Protea is a single member of this family, like Bob or Betty, other members are Banksia, Leucadendron and Leucospermum.

Collectively there are 61 genera and about 1,400 species in the Proteaceae family.
